No Lump Policy

Towards the end of November I found a lump in my lower left leg, near the shin on the muscle. So I immediately started to worry. I called my Medical Oncologist and went in for a Fine needle aspiration. Unfortunately this didn’t provide any answers to what this lesion could be. I decided to just monitor it through the holidays. I wanted to be present and not healing physically for my kids and family. In January I had my routine scans. This time with a MRI added. The MRI had some errors, making me not feel comfortable trusting the results. I could still feel this “thing” and NEEDED to know what it was! After consulting with my Medical Oncologist, and previous Surgical Oncologist we made the decision to have it removed. I got another Surgical Oncologist through Hillman, that does his surgeries at Shady and specializes in orthopedics and sarcoma. That was the end of February.

Today March 15, I had surgery to remove 2 lesions on my lower left leg. The surgery went well and I was only in the hospital for about 7 hours! Both lesions were sent to pathology and I’m patiently, impatiently waiting the results. I am just happy to have them out and able to slowly walk around.

My favorite quote of the day “let’s get de-lumpified” 🙂🙃
